Biography

Marcus Maurice Fussell is ever striving to reach his place among the legendary musical greats of our time. Inspired to music even from the womb, his mother instilled her wish to have a voice like Gladys Knight into her unborn son. As he grew, so did his admiration of artists like Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, The Jackson Five, The Temptations, and many others. His soul stirring with song, guided by faith and fate, Marcus Maurice decided to pursue his life's purpose as a musician in 1982.

At the age of 15, in Douglas Georgia, Marcus and a friend formed the basis of a quartet called Butterscotch. Through talent shows and radio broadcasts, the four youths were able to display their adept musical skills and get a taste for performing. After high school, Marcus enrolled at Morris Brown College in Atlanta, Georgia, as voice major. He proceeded to the Art Institute of Atlanta to study the business of music, including music law, promotion and marketing, studio recording, and video production. At the same time, with a close friend and a classmate, the trio Just For Love was created. The group performed at talent shows and toured the club circuit. In Atlanta, Just For Love had the privilege of performing at the Jesse Jackson campaign in Piedmont Park, then at the renowned Jack The Rapper convention.

Ever refining his musical abilities, Marcus Maurice formed the D.G.A.C., or Douglas Georgia Artist Collective. A cooperative of rappers, singers, poets, artists, and producers, the D.G.A.C. serves as support, networking, and inspiration for local talent seeking to create music. Since 2005, Marcus Maurice has been a member of The Educators while pursuing his solo career.

Divine inspired and a powerful musical influence, Marcus Maurice seeks to flourish before the world audience. Weaving together the Old School and the Nu, infusing his music with the harmony of his soul, it is a pleasure to present the smooth blends, vocal styling, and instrumental compositions of Marcus Maurice.
